When your body says no to more classes or clients but you still need to work
There comes a point in every fit pro’s life when your body starts complaining, and you know you need to step back from teaching classes or training clients. But what to do next?
Moving into teaching, assessing, or quality assurance means you get to share all your knowledge and experience with newcomers to the industry, while giving your body a rest.
One of these courses will be just right for you – and as a bonus, you get up to two hours of support and mentoring when you complete the course and start in your new role!
Level 3 Award in Education and Training (Q3EAT)
The course aim: To provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to educate and train individuals and/or groups and to enter the education sector.
The course objectives: to provide you with the knowledge to understand the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training and to deliver education and training to individuals and groups in an environment/subject in which you are technically competent. To provide you with the knowledge to be able to understand and support the process of assessment
Course content (all units are covered):
- Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Unit 3: Facilitate learning and development for individuals
- Unit 4: Facilitate learning and development for groups
- Unit 5: Understanding assessment in education and training
- Unit 6: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Assessment: Worksheets, a teaching log, a lesson plan and microteaching session and self-evaluation.
Pre–requisite: You need to be qualified in the subject you want to teach.

Course format: Four days from 9 am to 3 pm, plus a final day for the microteaching assessment. All sessions are delivered via Zoom.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (Q3ASS3)
The course aims/objectives are to give you the knowledge and skills to assess vocational competence in an environment other than the workplace (for example, a workshop, classroom or other training environments).
Entry requirements: This qualification is open to anyone 19 years old or over who has occupational and technical competence in the areas that they wish to assess
Progression: This qualification provides progression to additional assessing qualifications and to level 4 qualifications in internal quality assurance.
Course content: The course includes the following units:
Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Unit 2: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Assessment: worksheet, portfolio of evidence including observation of assessment, planning letters, assessment plans and reports, witness testimony from a line manager or colleague
NOTE: To gain the full award, you need to be able to assess two learners for Unit 2 of this qualification and have a colleague act as a supervising assessor and witness.

Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (Q4VER)
Target learners are those who want to work in quality assurance within an organisation or assessment centre.
The course objective is to be able to internally quality assure the processes and practices of assessment.
Entry requirements: This qualification is open to anyone 19 years old or over and qualified in the courses you will quality assure. You need to hold an assessing qualification.
Course content: The course includes two units:
- Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment (NOTE: available as a single unit for £197)
- Unit 2: Internally assure the quality of assessment
Assessment: Unit 1: worksheet. Unit 2: a portfolio of evidence including planning letters, sampling plans and reports, observation of assessors, professional discussion, design and delivery of a standardisation activity and a personal development plan. NOTE: To gain the full award, you need access to a minimum of two assessors, each assessing a minimum of two learners on a course.
Course format: Two days from 9 am to 3.30 pm (Unit 1 only is one day) plus an hour for a professional discussion. Delivery is via Zoom, and pre-recorded lessons are available to prepare you for the taught day.
